🐱 Don't Squish My Cat — free road-crossing game online

The crossing game is one of the oldest ideas in arcades. Frogger (Konami, 1981) defined it: a small creature, a deadly road, one hop at a time — and it became one of the highest-grossing arcade games ever made, famous for being easy to understand and merciless in practice. Designer Akira Hashimoto reportedly conceived it watching a frog struggling to cross a real road.

The idea kept getting reborn: Freeway on the Atari 2600 (a chicken, naturally), decades of "why did the X cross the road" clones, and then Crossy Road (2014), which turned the formula endless, gave it one-tap controls, and racked up hundreds of millions of downloads on phones. Our cabinet sits proudly in that lineage — grid hops and lane-dodging like Frogger, tap-to-hop like Crossy Road — with one improvement on both: the hero is a cat, so getting hit costs one of nine lives instead of ending the run.

Hop with arrows or WASD; on a phone, tap to hop forward and swipe to hop any direction. Every new row forward scores points, fish treats on the asphalt are worth 50, and reaching the grass banks a crossing bonus and starts the next level — faster traffic, tighter gaps, heavier trucks. Early levels have a grassy median to catch your breath; later ones don't. You have nine lives. Getting squished flattens the cat for a second and sends it back to the sidewalk — the clock of your pride is the only timer.

The star of the game doesn't have to be our cat — it can be your actual pet. Hit 🐾 Play as your peton the start screen, upload one clear photo, and ClipCraft's AI redraws your cat, dog, rabbit — whatever you've got — as a cartoon game sprite with four views(front, back, side — so it always faces the way it walks — plus a sleepy yawn it sneaks in when you stand still) that hops, dodges, and yes, pancakes, in their honor. It keeps their real fur colors and markings — it even draws your pet's own paws for the biscuit bonus round — costs 25 tokens (every account starts with 100 free), and the default cat stays free forever. Every pet you generate is saved to ⚙ Settings → My Pets, so you can build a whole roster and switch who stars in the run without ever paying to regenerate.

Watch the lane after the one you're hopping into — most squishes happen to cats who stop moving. Motorcycles are small but fast; semi-trucks are slow but five cells long, so never race one to a gap. Fish treats are worth a detour early, a trap late. And use the sideways hop: shifting one column left or right is often safer than waiting for the perfect vertical gap that never comes.
