The one-click ✨ Grab subject AI runs on a GPU, so it needs a free account and costs 5 tokens per image — everyone gets a few free runs, and a free account gives you 100 tokens a month. You can also cut a subject out completely by hand with the brush for free.
Does it remove the background automatically?
No, and that's on purpose. Grab subject and the brush build a selection you can see highlighted and refine first, then you press Remove background to actually cut it out. This select-then-confirm approach means you never get surprised by a bad automatic cutout.
How do I get a transparent PNG?
After you remove the background, leave the background set to Transparent and download — you get a PNG with a real alpha channel at your image's original resolution, ready to place on any design, thumbnail, or product photo.
Can I change the background instead of deleting it?
Yes. Once the subject is cut out you can swap the background to a solid color, a blurred version of the original, or your own uploaded photo, and even add a drop shadow so the subject blends in. This part is 100% free and runs in your browser.
Does my image get uploaded anywhere?
The manual brush, the background removal, the background swap, and the download all happen locally in your browser — those images never leave your device. The only exception is the optional one-click AI cutout, which sends that one image to a GPU server to detect the subject and deletes it right after processing.
