What the PDF Compressor can do
Nothing is uploaded
Your PDFs are read, recompressed, and downloaded entirely in your browser. The files never touch a server, so even sensitive contracts and scans stay on your own machine.
Batch-compress in one go
Drop in as many PDFs as you like and they all shrink at once. Grab them individually or download the whole batch as a single ZIP.
Compress to a target size
Need to slip under a 10 MB email cap or an upload limit? Type a target size in MB and it searches for the best quality that lands just under it.
Quality you control
Start with the Recommended preset, go smaller with Extra small, or drag the quality slider yourself. Every change re-compresses instantly so you can see the trade-off.
Grayscale to shrink further
Flip a document to black and white to cut the size even more. It desaturates images and rewrites colored text and vectors to gray, ideal for scans and printouts.
Free with no watermark
No watermark stamped on your pages and no size cap from an upload quota. It runs on your device, so it is fast and free to use.
How it works
Drop in your PDFs
Drag one or more PDFs onto the box, or click to choose files. They start compressing automatically the moment they load.
Dial in the size
Pick Recommended or Extra small, drag the quality slider, or set a target size in MB. Turn on grayscale if you want it even smaller.
Download
Save each compressed PDF on its own, or grab the whole batch as a ZIP. Everything downloads straight from your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PDF compressor free?
Yes. It runs right on your own device, so there's no watermark on your pages and no size limit from an upload quota. Everyone gets a few free runs; a free account tops you up to 100 tokens a month.
Does my PDF get uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are opened, recompressed, and downloaded entirely inside your browser tab. Nothing is ever sent to a server, which makes it safe for private or confidential documents.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what is inside. PDFs that are heavy with photos and scans usually shrink dramatically, while text-only files that are already lean may only drop a little. If a file cannot get smaller, the tool keeps the original and marks it as already optimal.
Can I compress a PDF to a specific file size?
Yes. Set a target size in MB (or tap a preset like 5 or 10 MB) and it searches for the highest quality that still fits under your target, downscaling images only if it has to. If a size truly cannot be reached, it tells you and gives you the smallest possible version.
Will compressing ruin the quality or the text?
Text and vector graphics stay crisp because they are not rasterized. The size savings come from re-encoding and optionally downscaling the images inside the PDF, and you control how aggressive that is with the quality slider and presets.
Can I compress several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add as many PDFs as you want and they all compress together. Download them one at a time, or use Download all to get the entire batch as a single ZIP file.
