What the Video Captions can do

🎬

80+ TikTok-style caption styles

Pick from a live-animating gallery of 80+ presets — beast-mode pop, karaoke word-fills, a bouncing sing-along ball, neon, comic, horror, pixel/gamer, handwritten and elegant. Each highlights the spoken word just like Shorts and Reels, and you can search the whole gallery by vibe or tag.

🔥

Burned right into the video

One shared canvas engine paints the preview and the export, so what you see is exactly what ships. Download an MP4 (or WebM) with the animated words baked into the frame — no separate .srt file to wrangle and no re-uploading to a caption site.

AI auto-subtitles with word timing

Let AI transcribe your audio and time every word so each caption lights up exactly when it's spoken. This runs on a GPU and needs a free account. Prefer to stay free? Type your script and tap along to sync it yourself.

🎨

Style it your way

Fine-tune font, size, on-screen position, text/highlight/outline/glow colors, UPPERCASE, word-pop, a karaoke sweep or a sing-along ball. Start from any preset and tweak it, then reset to the original in one click.

🎧

Turn audio into a captioned video

No video? Drop an MP3 or WAV, choose a size and a solid color or image background, and export a real captioned video — perfect for podcast clips, quotes, and lyric videos.

🔒

Renders in your browser

Styling, live preview, and the final burn-in all run client-side with canvas and MediaRecorder. Your video is never uploaded for rendering — only a small extracted audio clip is sent, and only if you choose AI auto-captions.

How it works

1

Drop in your video

Drag a video onto the tool, or create one from an audio file plus a color or image background. It loads instantly with a live caption preview.

2

Add and style your captions

Type or paste your lines and tap-to-sync the timing, or hit ✨ Auto captions to transcribe them with AI. Pick a style and fine-tune the look.

3

Export with captions burned in

Play it through once to render, then download an MP4 (or WebM) with the animated captions baked into the frame, ready to post.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to add captions to a video?

Yes. Choosing a style, typing and tap-syncing your captions, previewing, and exporting the burned-in video all run free in your browser. Everyone gets a few free exports; a free ClipCraft account tops you up to 100 tokens a month. Only the optional AI auto-subtitle feature needs an account.

Does my video get uploaded anywhere?

No. Styling, preview, and the final burn-in all happen on your device with canvas and MediaRecorder, so your video never leaves your browser. The one exception is AI auto-captions: it extracts a small audio-only clip and sends that — never the video itself — for transcription.

How does the AI auto-subtitle work?

It pulls your video's audio into a tiny clip and runs Whisper speech-to-text with word-level timestamps, so each word highlights exactly when it's spoken. This part uses a GPU and needs a free account, and it costs 5 tokens per started minute. Prefer to stay free? Type your script and tap along to sync it by hand.

Can I add captions without an account?

Yes. Pick a style, type or paste your lines, tap-to-sync the timing, and export a captioned video without signing in — you get a handful of free runs. A free account raises your monthly allowance and unlocks AI auto-captions and saved projects.

What caption styles can I use?

Over 80 animated presets — bold beast-mode pop, karaoke word-fills, a bouncing sing-along ball, neon, comic, horror, pixel/gamer, handwritten and elegant — all searchable by vibe. You can also customize the font, size, position, colors, outline, glow, and highlight mode on any of them.

What format does it export?

It exports an MP4 where your browser supports it, otherwise a WebM, with the captions and the original audio baked in. Because it records in real time as the video plays, a clip takes about its own length to export — keep the tab in the foreground while it renders.
