What the Silence Remover can do
Nothing is uploaded
The whole thing runs in your browser with the Web Audio API. Your podcast or video file never touches a server, so it stays private and there's no upload wait.
Dial in what counts as silence
Three sliders control it: the silence level (dB threshold), the minimum gap length to cut, and how much air to keep around each cut. Tune it until the cuts sound natural.
See every cut on the waveform
The full waveform shades everything that will be removed in red, so you know exactly what's going before you export. Drag the green handles to limit detection to a range.
Preview before you export
Play the trimmed result right in the browser — the player skips across the removed gaps so you hear the final version before committing to it.
Clean MP3, WAV, or MP4 export
Audio cuts are sample-accurate and lossless out to 192 kbps MP3 or 16-bit WAV. Video re-exports as MP4 (or WebM), with the audio ducked at each cut so there are no clicks.
Built for creators
Perfect for tightening podcasts, voiceovers, and AI-generated talking-head videos — pull out the boring bits without loading a heavy timeline.
How it works
Drop your file
Drag in an audio or video file, or click to choose one. It's decoded on the spot and the waveform draws instantly.
Set the threshold
Adjust the silence level, minimum gap, and padding until the red regions match the dead air you want gone, then preview the result.
Export
Download clean MP3 or WAV audio, or a re-encoded MP4/WebM video, with the silences removed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the silence remover free?
Yes — everything runs in your browser, so there are no server costs to pass on. Everyone gets a few free exports; a free account tops you up to 100 tokens a month.
Does my file get uploaded anywhere?
No. The audio is decoded and cut entirely on your device with the Web Audio API. Your podcast or video file never leaves your browser.
What file formats can I use?
Drop in common audio (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG) or video (MP4, WebM, MOV) files. Audio exports as MP3 or WAV; video exports as MP4 where your browser supports it, otherwise WebM.
Will the cuts sound choppy?
No. A "keep around cuts" padding leaves a little breathing room on each side of a cut, and audio cuts are sample-accurate. For video, the audio is faded down at each seam so you won't hear clicks.
How does it decide what's silence?
It measures loudness across the whole file and marks any stretch that's quieter than your dB threshold and longer than your minimum-gap setting. You control both sliders, so you decide exactly what gets cut.
Why does video export take a while?
Video is re-recorded in real time as it plays through the kept sections, so a trimmed clip takes about its own length to export — keep the tab open. Audio export is near-instant.
